IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW GLOBAL REPORTING FORMAT (GRF) IN SOMALIA
1 — IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW GLOBAL REPORTING FORMAT (GRF) IN SOMALIA
The purpose of this circular is to inform Aerodrome Operators, Air Navigation Service Providers, Aeronautical Meteorological Services, Aircraft Operators, and Pilots in Somalia about the implementation of the new ICAO methodology for assessing and reporting
runway surface conditions, known as the Global Reporting Format (GRF), effective from 19 February 2025.
The Global Reporting Format (GRF) provides a standardized system for assessing and reporting runway surface conditions. This approach enhances
flight crew's ability to assess takeoff and landing performance, thereby improving overall aviation safety.
The details of the Global Reporting Format (GRF) are outlined in the following ICAO publications:
Annex 14 — Aerodromes, Volume I — Aerodrome Design and Operations
Annex 3 — Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation
